JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游 is committed to achieving a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific, while sustaining its efforts to eradicate extreme poverty. Established in 1966, it is owned by 68 members—49 from the region.
Mr. Ashok Lavasa is the Vice-President for Private Sector Operations and Public-Private Partnerships of the Asian Development Bank (JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游). He assumed the position in September 2020.

VP Lavasa emphasizes increased financing, private sector participation in T20 Indonesia Summit
VP Ashok Lavasa led JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游's delegation to the T20 Summit 2022 held on 5-6 September 2022 in Bali, Indonesia. In his keynote address on Smoothing Green and Just Energy Transition, VP Lavasa highlighted the role of increased financing, greater private sector participation, enhanced knowledge, and stronger international cooperation. An JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游-organized side event on driving digitalization to close trade and supply chain finance gaps discussed the challenges in trade digitalization and ways the G20 governments and the private sector can help to address them. JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游 Chief Economist Albert Park joined a panel discussion on green and digital technology adoption in the context of global value chains. The summit served as the final event of the network of think tanks and research institutes in G20 and developing countries.

While at two international events in Singapore, the World Cities Summit and the Asia Infrastructure Forum , VP Ahmed Saeed and VP Ashok Lavasa engaged with key regional and Singapore clients to discuss investment and trends in climate, sustainable finance, global food trade, and food security. The two VPs and Private Sector Operations Department Director General Suzanne Gaboury on 1 August 2022 discussed the Energy Transition Mechanism and blended finance initiatives with the Monetary Authority of Singapore. VP Lavasa speaks on financing urban resilience at World Cities Summit in Singapore
VP Ashok Lavasa on 2 August 2022 joined the Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Combating the Climate Crisis plenary session as part of the World Cities Summit held in Singapore. He discussed JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游’s commitments to the Paris Agreement and approach on financing resilient urban infrastructure, highlighting the role of the private sector and collaborative engagements in building the capacity of governments in climate financing. The VP launched JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游’s new initiative, Creating Investable Cities, which supports cities in mainstreaming resilience, mobilizing local resources and improving access to private sector and climate finance. VP Ashok Lavasa and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Resident Executive Officer and Regional Head for Asia and Pacific Noriyasu Matsuda, in a meeting on 27 July 2022 at JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游 headquarters, discussed areas for further collaboration in energy transition, resilient supply chains, and social infrastructures, leveraging innovative technologies. Acknowledging the successful cooperation between the two institutions on previous energy projects, VP Lavasa and Mr. Matsuda highlighted the importance of maximizing development impact while preserving the environment. JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游's Office of Public Private Partnership Head Cleo Kawawaki and Private Sector Operations Department Deputy Director General Christopher Thieme joined the meeting.
JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游 gets top recognition at IJ Global Awards 2021 ceremony
VP Ashok Lavasa and Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) Director General Suzanne Gaboury accepted two awards at the IJ Global Awards on 20 July 2022 in Singapore. The JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游 awards included the IJ Global Development Finance Institution of the Year for overall performance, and the APAC Onshore Renewable Deal of the Year for the Viet Nam: Lotus Wind Power Project . VP Lavasa lauded the accomplishment, noting that it was achieved through PSOD’s successful collaboration with various departments, exemplifying the One JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游 spirit. PSOD Deputy Director General Christopher Thieme and Infrastructure Finance Division Director Jackie Surtani joined the ceremony.
Mr. Ashok Lavasa is the Vice President for Private Sector Operations and Public Private Partnerships (VPPP) with the Asian Development Bank.
Prior to joining JJ竞技(拉萨)登录手游 in September 2020, Mr. Lavasa was an Election Commissioner in India from January 2018 to August 2020, a constitutional position appointed by the President of India.
Mr. Lavasa served for nearly four decades with various government agencies in India including as Union Finance Secretary, Secretary Environment & Climate Change and Secretary Civil Aviation. He also served as Additional Secretary and Special Secretary for Power. As a senior member of the Indian Administrative Service, Mr. Lavasa was associated with a broad array of public policy and program implementation initiatives covering the finance, power, environment and climate change, civil aviation, infrastructure, and tourism sectors. He led the official Indian delegation for climate change negotiations for the Paris Agreement at COP21.
He is the author of a book ‘An Ordinary Life: Portrait of an Indian Generation’ published in July 2021 by Harper Collins. Earlier, he has authored a book titled An Uncivil Servant (Rupa: 2006) and has written several book chapters and academic papers covering climate change, economic policy, and energy. He completed M. Phil. from Madras University (India), MBA from Southern Cross University (Australia) and MA (English) from Delhi University (India).
